The 73rd Annual Greater Washington Soap Box Derby is slated for Flag Day, Saturday, June 14, 2014.

The event will take place on the Capitol Grounds in Washington, DC and is free to the public to attend.

As a routine measure, Rep Steny Hoyer (D-MD) introduced in the House H. Con. Res. 88 to allow use of the Capitol grounds for the event, where it takes place every year. The resolution picked up seven cosponsors and was referred to the Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure.

The Greater Washington Soap Box Derby Association sponsors the event. It will be responsible for all the costs, including setting up the stage and amplification devices, and ensuring the event does not interfere with the work of Congress. The Architect of the Capitol must approve all structures.

Arrangements for attendance haven't been announced yet but you can keep up by checking in at
