Many people think that a treadmill is your enemy. You have to run on it for hours to get a good workout right? WRONG! 20 minutes a day 3 days a week is all you need to put on the mill in order to get great cardio workout. But how?
Running up hills is one of the best ways to raise your heart rate, build endurance and burn calories. Setting the treadmill at a incline and either walking or sprinting uphill can burn more calories than a steady jog for an hour. Add some sprints in there (run as fast as you can for 10-15 seconds, then jog for 20-30 and repeat 10-12 times) can raise your heart rate as fast as it takes to raise it by jogging at a slow to steady pace for an hour.
It is not the time but the quality of your workout that matters. If you want a solid workout in about 20 minutes follow these steps. Of course, make sure you give yourself a good 5 to 10 minutes to warm-up Then hit the treadmill hard for 20 minutes mixing in hills and sprints throughout then entire 20 minutes. Resting and jogging in between sprints. You will raise your heart rate and increase the calorie burn in less time than it takes to run 5 miles.
Who wouldn't like more time in their day to do the things they love while still getting a great workout?
