A mom noticed a great white shark on Manhattan Beach only after she looked closer at photos she took while her son and a friend were out surfing. UPI reports Dec. 29 that Quinn, 12, and his friend were way out in the waves of the ocean waters in California Friday.
The boy's mother -- June Emerson -- the rest of the family went out for a day of fun and relaxation. No one noticed what is believed to have been a great white shark on Manhattan Beach. Emerson noticed a "shark-like creature lurking" behind her son and his friend after she examined the pictures closer.
“I’m not sure what it was,” Emerson said. “But it definitely scared me when I thought it might be a shark.”
Quinn's mother went on to say that several local surfers and lifeguards agreed that after inspecting the mystery creature in the background, it had to be a shark. Emerson said she told her kids that it was a dolphin. The family lives near the beach and they are at Manhattan Beach almost daily.
Dolphins are said to be often present in that area and great white sharks are occasionally seen.
It would be quite an eery discovery for a mom to notice something like this after the fact. Luckily none of the kids or anyone else was harmed if there was actually a great white shark on Manhattan Beach!
