Day 2 of the 2014 Iowa State Fair will bring the Happy Together Tour 2014 to the Grandstand stage. The tour features Sixties, Seventies, and Eighties acts The Turtles (featuring Flo and Eddie), Chuck Negron (of Three Dog Night), Gary U.S. Bonds, Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels, and Gary Lewis & The Playboys. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $25, and the event is open to all ages.

The free stages at the fair will also offer up some good music on Friday. Eighties and Nineties rockers Great White (see slideshow) will play the Bud Light Stage at 8 p.m. Over the years, the L.A. band has survived break-ups, internal and external lawsuits, a massive fire at one of their shows that killed 100 people, and the deaths of two of their members. Great White has collected two platinum/multi-platinum albums, one gold album, and seven Top 10 Rock singles, including the smash hits "Rock Me" (featured video), "Once Bitten, Twice Shy", and "Save Your Love". The band released a new live album and a new greatest hits compilation last year.

Country singer Jon Pardi will take the Susan Knapp Amphitheater stage at 8 p.m. Friday. Pardi released his debut album Write You a Song in January. The album peaked at #3 on the Country chart and produced the Top 10 single "Up All Night".

Billed as "Stomp meets Glee", the Texas-based group Vocal Trash combines street instruments like trash can lids, buckets, and hubcaps with acapella vocal harmonies to perform contemporary versions of oldies and rock and roll. You can catch them on the Fairview Stage everyday of the fair at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The Willis Clan will take the Anne and Bill Riley Talent Stage at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday. The Willis Clan is a family of fourteen musicians, dancers, athletes, writers, and artists that is competing on the current season of NBC's America's Got Talent. They merge their Irish roots with other music and dance genres to create a unique blend of the old and new.

The final free stage act at the Iowa State Fair on Friday will be hometown favorites The Nadas. The alt-rock/country band released their ninth album Lovejoy Revival last year. They will play the Fairview Stage at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

For those wanting to avoid the crowds of the fair, there are plenty of other shows in Central Iowa on Friday night. Ohio heavy metal sextet Chimaira will bring their Artery Metal tour to Wooly's in Des Moines on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. show. The band's last three albums have cracked the Top 5 of the Billboard Hard Rock chart. Their latest album, Crown of Phantoms, came out last year. Opening the show will be tourmates The Plot in You, Upon This Dawning, Allegaeon, and Silence the Messenger, Iowa bands Apathy Syndrome, Bloodtied, and Hours of Decay. Tickets for the all ages event are $17 in advance and $20 at the door.

Iowa Blues Hall of Famer and Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bob Pace (pictured) will play his weekly Work Release Party at the Gas Lamp in Des Moines on Friday. Pace, along with The Dangerous Band, will play from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Iowa guitar legend is currently working on a new album that is due out late summer/early fall. The 21-plus party will have a $5 cover and will offer free food while it lasts.
