A unique collection of metropolitan adventurers took to the San Diego city streets Saturday, November 2, for a one-of-a-kind, mental fitness event. The Great Urban Race San Diego took place downtown, leading participants to and through the historic, picturesque and the occasional obscure local points of interest.
Conceived with the modern day adventure seeker in mind, BACARDÍ OakHeart® has partnered with The Great Urban Race to create a competition that challenges mind, body and geographic awareness. Teams of cerebral enthusiasts gathered at Whiskey Girl, on 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp for this wholly original, enjoyable event.
Expertly crafted for a new generation of responsible rum enthusiasts (21+), the essence of BACARDÍ OakHeart® was mirrored by the spontaneous, fun-seeking, free-spirited field that turned out to enjoy an event boasting equal parts camaraderie and serious competition.
From Sudoku, to yoga, to not-so-simple math, the Great Urban Race is truly a challenge, pitting San Diegans against each other, the elements and the clock. Opinions varied whether it was harder to spell words with wood blocks while blindfolded or find a photocopier downtown on a Saturday, and team leaders quickly distinguished themselves as the clues led to Sea Port Village, where it was determined a caterpillar larva was to be consumed.
Participants scrambled, searched, studied and stewed throughout the streets of San Diego. The clues were as challenging as they were well conceived. You would never realize how thoroughly a friendship can be tested when you realize neither of you can get a Plinko chip to fall in the right place.
Several Local establishments lent their facilities, staff and libations to the effort. Not merely a perfect partner, BACARDÍ OakHeart® was also a noteworthy Great Urban Race presence. Finishers celebrated their accomplishments, and album-cover knowledge, with this delightful, bold spiced rum, perfected in the heart of charred oak barrels. The smooth, peppery, flawlessly sweet and smoky spirit lent itself beautifully to the post-race revelry.
For the bold and adventurous who could not make the San Diego race, and who don’t have The Great Urban Race in their area, BACARDĺ OakHeart® welcomes you to test your limits and take the OakHeart Challenge online at http://www.oakheartchallenge.com/challenge/WeekFour/ where you are a lot less likely to have to eat anything.
ENJOY TOGETHER RESPONSIBLY.
