It seemed as if most of you cable fans were enjoying the Celebration of Gospel, Sunday night on BET. I was fortunate to have been invited as 1/4 of the judge panel, at a very exciting talent competition in St. Louis. A panel that included a talent artist Alli TherealAlli, promoter/entrepenuer Laura Scarborough and Gateway Fusion Entertainment CEO & Founder London Brickz Davis.

It was St. Louis' own marketing ‘phenom’ Jon Erickque first round of The Talent Competition Showcase. It was an event that had everybody talking, in which over 15 acts competed, until stage presentation and overall dominance took over. Eventually, the round 1 trophy and a nice cash prize went quickly to the energetic rapper Rip James (check out my interview soon).

I (The Newsletter 2005 Promotions) must say the venue Bar Code a.k.a. Guest House Lounge truly packed them in.Not only with their great drink specials, but with their mouth-watering menu. They even have a V.I.P club downstairs, for those who requires that special attention.

I met, and were familiar with some of the great talents; Deala T, JB Sanders, Mary Meriwether and Louie Boy. There were a host of promoters, artist's managers and entertainment groups on hand, so as an artist, if you missed this networking gem, try back next month.

Jon’s manager, Remix Awards Show award- winning Jackie Phillips of Where You Want 2 Be Entertainment/Unheard Media, offered solid advice that kept the audience captivated, yet hopeful. Jon's event continues next month and the question will remain, can Rip James hold on to his title?

Everybody, including myself enjoyed the other talents also, and I hope they return next month to try again.
