The kids are heading back to school so what's a parent to do?
If possible, find a good book that can be read without someone screaming, "Mom! He's breathing my air!" or "Get out of my room!" every five minutes.
Once the kids are tucked away at school tomorrow, you've got a chance to read, but today is when they are free.
Here are a few that are free today at Amazon and they are also from San Antonio Authors and part of the San Antonio Romance Authors, which is an added bonus:
Lisa Pietsch's Task Force 125 Freedom's Promise: When a CIA operative is captured nobody is ever sent to save him. Seasoned paramilitary operative Vince Hennessee knew the risks but the only way he could move on with the life he had planned with Sarah Stevens was to put down Nikolai Federov once and for all. What he didn’t expect was that Nikolai would find him first. Now it is up to Sarah and the rest of the American Swift team from Task Force 125 to find Nikolai and put together an armed strike force that can take out the Russian and rescue Vince before it is too late.
Patricia W. Fischer's Contemporary Romance Weighting for Mr. Right: After making a disastrous spectacle of herself at the altar, overweight brainiac Megan Sayla only wants to save face by changing the direction of her life, but doesn’t expect to make a wrong turn and end up in a men’s bathroom stall.
As she tries to gather her thoughts to make her escape, she’s befriended by a stranger, Jacob Dante, whose unexpected chivalrous behavior ends up giving her words of comfort, wisdom, and the strength to move forward.
Along with her new friendship with Jacob and her overachieving cousin, Sam, by her side, Megan inches her way to a better life, mind, and body. Despite her positive progress, she finds that familiar obstacles make her journey almost impossible to complete and former allies attempt to derail her success.
With Jacob’s encouragement, Megan continues forward, but as she pushes toward her goals, the journey becomes more complicated and Megan begins to question her own motivation. Should she simply return to the life and fiancé she had before to make others happy? Or can she believe in herself enough to finish what she started?
Tara West's Young Adult Paranormal Sophie's Secret: After shedding 30 pounds of baby fat, Sophie Sinora has grown into a pretty, but insecure, teen in bloom. To make her life more complicated, Sophie can sometimes read minds.
Sophie's BFFs, AJ and Krysta, are also 'gifted' with paranormal abilities. Keeping their gifts secret proves difficult, as their powers are strengthening, making them feel more and more like freaks.
When Sophie falls for Jacob, she hopes he'll ask her out to the Freshman Formal. But when she's forced to cheat and lie for him, she wonders how far she'll have to go to make him like her. Add to her growing list of problems - her teacher's suicidal thoughts, a locker bully who wants to kick her butt, the hot school flirt who won't stop teasing her, her pregnant sister who boots Sophie out of her room, and the growing tension between Sophie and her best friends.
Sophie's got issues. Hopefully, she can fix them in time to save her teacher's life and her social life.
So enjoy the books and the quiet, until the phone rings and it's the school asking you to volunteer.
