Cleveland cyclists sold out the inaugural Wild Ride so quickly last year that the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has taken note and responded in kind. For 2013 there will be two Wild Rides. The rides will be for bicyclists of all ages and will be held on Saturday, May 4 and Friday, August 16 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Wild Ride is a program where the Zoo closes to regular foot traffic visitors and the paths are open to bicycle traffic. Ride maps are distributed that point out the various bike routes around the Zoo and are differentiated between beginner, intermediate and experienced riders. It gives the guests greater and quicker mobility seeing the zoo on two wheels rather than two feet as they ride from exhibit area to exhibit area with opportunities to meet the animal keepers.
Tickets for Wild Ride are $12 per person, with a $2 discount for Cleveland Zoological Society members. A signed release form will be required for each rider, and a helmet is strongly recommended. Advance sale tickets are available online at clemetzoo.com along with printable release forms. Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign and deliver the waiver to be admitted.
Wild Ride at the Zoo is a rain or shine event.
