Gerzon Hernandez, 19, of 61 Van Nostrand Ave., was arraigned Aug. 22 on charges of second-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon.
As Examiner.com reported, a 24-year-old man was sitting under a gazebo in Great Neck Park at 665 Middle Neck Road on Monday night when he was approached by an unknown assailant.
Detectives believe Hernandez began to argue with the victim before using a screwdriver to stab him multiple times.
At the time, police said the assailant fled from the park on foot. The victim was treated at a local hospital.
During his Thursday arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead, Hernandez was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is due back in court on Aug. 26.
