The great lakes zoological society makes for a wonderful family destination and reptile lovers adventure. Providing a wide variety of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates to see up close and learn about. They also have Macaw and African gray parrots that squawk and vocalize to passing guests.
The great lakes zoological society has filled it's 5000 square foot facility with over 100 different reptile, amphibian, and invertebrate species. Each enclosure is custom made and detailed to the the specific needs of the creature that lives in it. Clean enclosures and healthy well maintained animals are beautifully shown.
Many of the animals on display at the GLZS are former pets that owners have given up. There are also endangered species that are homed here while they are being rehabilitated and re-homed. Each animal is given proper care and feedings from an educated staff.
Some of the animals on display include two 90lb.Sulcata tortoises, an 18ft reticulated python, poison dart frogs in many different colors, monitor lizards in various sizes. Plus many other species from around the world including a newly discovered monitor lizard, The Blue tree monitor.
The GLZS also has adoptable animals to approved homes. These animals have come to GLZS and have been rehabilitated, treated for parasites and handled by people. While not every one can provide a suitable proper home for reptiles or pets, these creatures have a caring, dedicated staff that provides them with care.
