Burger “joints”, fast food spots and corners have become a staple of not only American culture but even the American lifestyle. Everyone is always in a rush, and unconsciously compromising taste for cost. One thing is certain, once we stick to something; we stick by it for life, or at least for as long as the establishment will survive, because loyalty is certainly something that also describes us. With time, the food industry has changed around the demands of the consumer; fad or not, our now constant search for fresh and REAL food mixed with the trend of consuming organic or more natural products seems to be the catalyst for newer culinary concepts steering further from the multibillion dollar corporations that dizzied us with their neon sings in the past.

We can’t seem to turn our heads fast enough to notice more restaurants than people to sitting at their empty tables, online coupons to get us to walk through their doors; you name the trick, they’re playing it. Chicago is indeed the home of the deep dish pizza, California known for its killer burritos, New York…let’s face it, for everything! But Miami is certainly the most current and self proclaimed queen of the burger and beer joints second to their infamous Mojitos! There are festivals, tastings, groupons, flyers, food trucks; everything short of writing in the sky announcing the opening of one more of these amazing restaurants.

Born from the love of great tasting food, a career that chose him and a risk and a dream that haunted him, Chef and co-owner of A&G Burger Joint, Alex Parra, is right on his way to quickly add his name to the roster of the few but great note worthy and headline making burger joints in Miami, FL. Before this simple but masterful concept of pairing the right bun to the proportional amount of meat and the perfect beer, places such as “Five Guys Burgers and Fries” were quickly spreading the news and people raving about their seasoned fries. A&G Burger Joint is definitely no Five Guys and neither are any of the other more gourmet counterparts but there is definitely something they are doing right that exceeds all expectations and surpasses the concept we once had of fast food.

A&G is not only redefining these previously held conceptions but most importantly, they are giving their clients a tasty reason to take it slow, to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal from about six different styles of French fries, eight styles of succulent burgers, sandwiches and most of all…a cold beer (from about twenty) to choose from and the chance to choose how you want your food to be prepared without wanting to get up and rush out because even their staff is friendly and accommodating. When asked to talk more about A&G and taking the chance on becoming a business owner and not just taking command in the kitchen, Chef Alex spoke from the heart about his real intentions; to bring about a concept that not only would be a great hit with the college community nearby, but most importantly make REAL great food that came from the heart. Careful taste and mindful preparation is worth the wait, but you are guaranteed not to wait in vain!
