Great Falls colder than South Pole

Great Falls recorded a low of -26 degrees setting a new record for December 6. At the same time, the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica was -20 degrees.

Saturday morning Great Falls set another record low of -34 degrees.

According to AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Klines “It’s a pretty impressive air mass that’s coming down out of Canada”

National Weather Service meteorologist Dave Bernhardt in Great Falls said, “Cold weather over a prolonged period of time has not been seen in Montana since the late 1990s.”

The record low temperatures will continue as Uranus, the planet of the unexpected is currently square Pluto, which rules weather.

With five more passes of Uranus square Pluto, residents will continue to see “longterm low temperatures,” stated Kevin Trenberth, climate analysis chief of the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
