Great Columbia Quest coming up on March 22

Celebrate Columbia's 228th birthday by testing your local smarts in Historic Columbia’s Great Columbia Quest on Saturday, March 22.

Starting from the Carriage House at Robert Mills at 9 a.m., the 3rd annual Great Columbia Quest will take teams of two across Columbia in a citywide scavenger hunt. Traveling by foot or bike, questers will follow clues that test their knowledge of local art, architecture and history on their way to various historic sites and monuments downtown.

The Quest gives teams three hours to solve puzzles and complete challenges for points. Prizes will be given to the first, second and third place teams as well as to the teams with the best name and best costume. The first pair of questers to reach certain sites will also find “pop-up” prizes waiting for them.

The cost to register is $10 for both HC members and non-members. Registration includes a shirt and goody bag for each team member, and admission to a finish line party with snacks, drinks and awards at the Carriage House at Robert Mills. For more information and to register, visit historiccolumbia.org, call 803.252.1770 ext. 23 or email reservations@historiccolumbia.org.

“The Great Columbia Quest is a great way to explore the capital city and discover its hidden treasures,” says Sarah Blackwell, HC’s director of programs and the mastermind behind this event. “Bring your competitive spirit and see how well you know Columbia. It’s challenging, it’s educational and it’s a lot of fun!”

The 3rd Annual Great Columbia Quest is sponsored by Mast General Store, The Columbia Star, Language Buzz, Midlands Mortgage, 20/20 Vision, Cake Professor, Richard Durlach and Breedlove Dance Team, Russell & Jeffcoat, Walgreen's in Five Points and Starbucks in Five Points.
