Great Big World singer changes diet to help his Multiple Sclerosis

Chad Vaccarino of the hit duo called A Great Big World kept the secret of his Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis for years, but now he's speaking out because he changed his diet and it has helped him with his symptoms.

The singer tried out the Paleo diet to treat his MS, and he did it like a noted doctor with MS, and celebrity Jack Osbourne is doing with his low carb Paleo diet. All have said to have minimalized symptoms of their illness.

NOTE: Some doctors, as the experts in the attached video clip, say there is no evidence that changing one's diet can effectively stop Multiple Sclerosis, despite the claims from these anecdotes.

One of the biggest benefits experienced by both Osbourne and Vaccarino is the weight loss and lower cholesterol from the diet. Such a diet is also supposed to control diabetes and hormone surges and is common for some celebrities to try out lately.

Osbourne lost 70 pounds on the diet and explained his progression to Dr. Oz on the TV show. He said, "I try to look at MS as inflammation, so I try and eliminate foods that cause inflammation, like dairy, gluten and grains."

With the Paleo diet both MS celebs say they have lost weight without hunger pangs and without the blood sugar spikes that cause inflammation. Both stars heard about the Paleo diet from Dr. Terry Wahls, a professor at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, who was diagnosed with MS in 2000 and created her own Paleo diet. She says that she has controlled her MS without other traditional MS drugs.

Singer Vaccarino says he's seeing similar results and adds, “I’m sharing my story in the hopes that it might inspire you the way Dr. Wahls’ story inspired me. I don’t know if it will work for everyone, but it did for me and I’m grateful.”

Megan Fox and Jessica Alba are on the diet. Sharon Osbourne, Jack's mother, is credited with losing 30 pounds on the diet and Tim McGraw lost 40 pounds on the diet. The diet involves healthy fats, non-starchy vegetables, animal proteins and ignores sugar, dairy, alcohol, processed foods and gluten.
