In 1977, the Great American Smokeout went nationwide and eventually won enough nationwide attention to attract celebrities to rally around the cause.
An annual event dedicated to motivating smokers to cease puffing, celeb chairs have including anyone from model Christy Turlington to Mr. Potato Head who gave up his pipe for the cause.
The event sponsored by the American Cancer Society offers up tools for starting a non-smoking lifestyle, including online support centers, desktop tools and more.
In a long list of celebs who have gone public about their choice to remove smoking from their life are People's Sexiest Man Alive 2009 Johnny Depp, Gisele Bundchen, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Kate Hudson and Jennifer Aniston.
