Grandma shot self, grandsons: 2-year-old and 6-month-old killed

A Connecticut grandma shot self and then her grandsons. On Feb. 27, the Boston Herald reported reported that 47-year-old Debra Denison picked her too young grandsons from daycare but instead of driving them home, she brought them to a neighboring town and shot and killed them before turning the gun on herself.

2-year-old Alton Perry and 6-month-old Ashton Perry were found Tuesday night in a car parked near Lake of Isles in Connecticut hours after an Amber Alert had been issued. Denison's body was also found in the vehicle. There is an investigation going on and autopsies are being conducted. Further details -- like how Denison got a gun -- are unclear.

The grandma who shot herself and her grandsons did have a history of mental health issues according to those close to her. Family members said that Denison suffered from "bi-polar disorder" but the boys' parents say that she had been "doing well." There was a suicide note left behind but it is unknown if Denison wrote her motives in it.

Denison did have permission to pick the boys up from daycare and her daughter obviously never thought anything like this would ever happen. The boys' paternal grandmother felt that the two young boys were "too much" for Denison to handle.

The grandma shot herself and her grandsons leaving the rest of the family distraught. More details could be released after the investigation is complete.
