On Monday, prosecutors claimed that a grandma ‘hunted down’ her grandson and shot at him multiple times. The prosecutor argued, too, that the grandmother in question, Sandy Layne, ignored pleas from her own grandson to call 911.
Layne is on trial for first-degree murder.
Layne is a 75-year-old woman who says that she feared her own grandson. In fact, Layne was so concerned with her grandson and his friends’ antics that she purchased a gun just one month before the fatal shot was fired.
Now, on trial for first-degree murder, Layne is being asked to return to the witness stand. Prosecutors are currently confused by her story, unclear why she decided to shoot and kill her grandson if she worried about him rather than just asking him to leave the house.
But according to the Associated Press, Layne allegedly shot and killed her grandson after he kicked her and demanded she give him money and her car to skip town.
Despite being 75, Layne is staring down the barrel of a life in prison without parole sentence due to the fact that she’s on trial for first-degree murder.
