Take-Two happily announced that Rockstar demolished records. Today, they celebrated that Grand Theft Auto V had retail sales totaling more than $1 billion during its first three days on the market. This made it the fastest game in history to reach that landmark. The critically acclaimed franchise constantly breaks records.
The Grand Theft Auto franchise has been around for 16 years. Known for its satire and over the top sexual and violent content Grand Theft Auto has become a staple in the gaming industry. Each new installation brings something new and fresh to the table.The latest installment, Grand Theft Auto V took over five years to develop and it did not disappoint. Reviewers and gamers alike were all in awe of the final result.
Metacritic said "Los Santos is a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis..." giving the game a score of 98/100.
IGN stated that "Grand Theft Auto V is not only a preposterously enjoyable video game, but also an intelligent and sharp-tongued satire of contemporary America". It gave the game a 10/10.
The Examiner opens up their review by stating that: "This is not just another open-world title that promises so much, but doesn't deliver. This is a game that surpasses your wildest expectations for what an open-world game can be, and should be".
Consumers appear to be grabbing up copies now, but analysts are curious to see if they can keep up the momentum. Grand Theft Auto V is available in stores now for the PlayStation 3 console as well as the Xbox 360. The game is also available in digital format on PSN.
