Grand Theft Auto V became available for purchase at retailers on September 17 starting at midnight. Gamers gathered at retailers like Gamstop to be the first to get the most anticipated game of the year.

Like Black Friday or the release of the The Phantom Menace a decade ago, gamers started gathering at Gamestop with lawn chairs and refreshment to survive the long wait til midnight. Smaller stores catered to those who just wanted to get their game quick while the larger Gamestops hosted a massive midnight release party.

One such Gamestop that catered to those who just wanted the game was located on 2065 Camden Ave in San Jose. They had plan to deal with crowd as patrons began camping outside at around 7:00pm. There was also a small police presence to ensure peoples safety and to deter any muggers.

When the clock hit midnight; 10 people at a time were let into the store to get their game and leave. Everyone walked out of the store with joy while also showing off that they got their copy of the game before anyone in line.

By 12:35 the line at the store had almost died down but the store will stay open for a few hours. However the fun had only begun at the larger stores were the midnight release had been made into a party.

Grand Theft Auto V is the 15th game in the series and is available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It has been highly praised by critics as one of the greatest games developed while expected to make over $1 billions.
