The number one fastest selling game of all time is coming to next-generation consoles! Or at least, there’s a very strong possibility of it, according to one article by Trusted Reviews.
Colin Sebastian, an analyst for the wealth management company Robert V. Baird & Co, hinted at a 2014 release of GTA 5 to next-gen consoles in a letter to investors. Among other things, the letter stated that a PS4 and Xbox One release of GTA 5 would “help extend the value of the franchise.”
A statement that may seem puzzling to some, as the GTA franchise doesn’t look like it needs any help with regards to its value. GTA 5 just recently set the top record for highest grossing day one release on a global scale, at an enormous $800 million within 24 hours of its initial release.
However, Sebastian predicts that, despite this overwhelmingly successful release, the game will not exceed early sales estimates. He states, “We are now modeling 13-14 million units shipped in F2Q. We believe there is still potential upside to our targets.”
Furthermore, he adds that “given the possibility that sales of GTA are front-loaded, we will await further sales data before adjusting our expectations further."
Rockstar has yet to comment on the possibility for a next-generation release.
