As most Americans likely know by now, Grand Theft Auto V has seen monumental success since it released over a month ago. Now it has been revealed that Rockstar Games’ latest title is also seeing strong sales in Japan as Mirror reported on Oct 22. GTA 5 has now officially become the fastest selling Grand Theft Auto title in Japan as the series’ latest entry broke all previous franchise sales.
Despite the popularity of the Grand Theft Auto series in the United States, the franchise’s distinct humor which plays off strictly American-themed satire makes the open-world games harder to take hold in foreign markets.
Grand Theft Auto V is out now only on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The game puts players in control of three switchable protagonists, each with their own unique abilities, as they undertake a series of high-profile heist robberies throughout the city of Los Santos and surrounding Blaine County. Also now available, a free title update on Oct 1 gave all owners of the base game access to the GTA Online multiplayer mode.
