After the upcoming online mode for Grand Theft Auto V has now finally been revealed, Rockstar North President Leslie Benzies further discussed the new mode with CVG on Thursday to release several new details for GTA Online. Among the many questions asked to Benzies was whether the online mode of the upcoming title would have a definitive end, to which he replied that Rockstar’s hope is for GTA Online to last forever and that it would never end.
This is due to the desire to have the online mode far outlive the base game itself. Rockstar Games plans to continuously update GTA Online with new content, as well as put tools in the hands of players themselves which will allow them to create their own additions to the game. Benzies went on to detail the developer's dream that the game’s map would eventually be expanded to the point that it included the entire world.
Grand Theft Auto V releases for the Xbox 360 and Playstion 3 on Sept 17, however, GTA Online won’t launch until Oct 1. Players won’t have to enter an online pass or make any addition purchases to access the online mode once it’s released as it will simply become enabled within the game itself.
