Recent speculation suggests that Grand Theft Auto 5 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC may see a slight delay and be released in early 2015, opposed to the fall 2014 release date as previously scheduled. According to a report by iBTimes from Aug. 18, they cite a video from CVG which speculates that Rockstar may delay the release of GTA 5 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC until next year. This speculation conflicts with Take-Two’s recent earning’s report which has GTA 5 slated for a fall 2014 release.

In a video on CVG, James Jarvis, a producer and editor for CVG, wonders if Grand Theft Auto 5 will see a release date delay. Many expected Rockstar to announce an official release date or a new trailer during Sony’s Gamescom conference earlier this month. With Gamescom having come and gone with no mention of GTA 5, there has been talk of a possible delay. While discussing Grand Theft Auto V, Jarvis shares his view that if the title is on track for release this year then previews should start to appear relatively soon, and Rockstar should start to build hype up for the game’s release.

“If it’s going to be this year, you want to build the hype up a good few months before the game comes out, and there isn’t much of the year left. If the previews don’t happen really soon, there’s a possibility we won’t be seeing ‘GTA 5’ on new-gen, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, until next year,” stated Jarvis.

Since E3 2014 in June, Rockstar has been silent on the topic of GTA 5 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Take-Two recently reconfirmed the title for a fall 2014 release date, though the company refused to narrow down a potential month and date for release. Despite speculation suggesting a potential delay, it seems probable that Grand Theft Auto 5 will release in late-2014 for PC and new-gen consoles as numerous retailers have listed GTA V with a Nov. release date.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in Sept. 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360. The title has gone on to sell more than 30 million units worldwide. With 2014 entering its final quarter soon, we should be hearing more on GTA 5’s release date in the coming weeks.
