Although Spring is less than a month away, the weather doesn't seem to reflect it. For animal lovers though, the pet events are gearing back up and and a sure sign that warm weather is just around the corner. Misty Eyes Animal Shelter and Learning Center is holding the official Grand Opening of their adoption center this Saturday, March 2 at 11 AM. Go visit their adoption center and learn more about their work, listen to live music, take a tour of the facility and enjoy some light snacks. The adoption center is located in Brownsburg at 640 East Main Street. The center will be open for adoptions on Friday evenings and during the day on both Saturday and Sunday. This location is only temporary while they are raising funds to build their permanent facility.
Also on Saturday will be March in the Pugs. This fundraiser and just plain fun time is sponsored by Kentuckiana Pug Rescue. It runs 10 AM-4 PM at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Lebanon, IN which is just a short drive up I-65 from Indianapolis. All breeds are welcome and admission is just $5 per person or $15 per family. They will have contests for eating, costumes, best trick, Pug races and more. Free microchipping is included with paid admission while the supply lasts. For the human visitors, there will also be food, vendors, raffles, prizes and grab bags.
If you are looking to adopt a new best friend, check out an adoption event. Contact your local Petco or Petsmart for adoption times and rescues or shelters that will be participating. Please consider volunteering with a rescue group or shelter. The more volunteers they have, the more animals that can attend adoption events and the quicker they will find their forever homes.
