Given all the news lately about reduced hours at San Jose libraries and library fees at the Santa Clara County libraries, it is great to hear good news about a new library! The new Los Gatos Library opens to the public today at 10 am. Located next to the old library, the new LEED-certified building is more than twice the size of the old and includes wonderful age-appropriate spaces. The library collection has even been expanded by about 5000 titles due to a generous donation.
The new library contains a technology room, a teen room that overlooks the main entrance, a children's reading area with "nurdles" and a fenced outdoor courtyard, a conference room, a coffee bar, free wi-fi, movie projection spaces, and more. And it is absolutely beautiful inside--from the starscape ceiling in the children's area to the comfy chairs in the teen area to the glass wall in the entrance foyer, this is sure to become your "go to" library.
Opening weekend festivities and library tours are planned from 10 am to 5 pm both today and tomorrow.
You must have an active Los Gatos Library card to check out materials. Library cards are available for free to any California resident with proper identification and verification of their mailing address.
