The grand opening of the Hollywood Casino on February 3, 2012 was a huge success. The casino sits by the second turn of the Kansas Speedway where guests can overlook the track. The International Speedway Inc. and the president of the Kansas Speedway, Pat Warren, never imagined the Kansas Speedway would grow this large. The casino opening happened sooner than they expected also.
The Kansas Speedway will also start having two races for the year 2012. The first is April 22 and the second is in October. Other updates on the track will be a repavement as well as an infield road track before the October race.
Two very well known drivers visited the casino on Friday to start the gaming. Clint Bowyer who is a native to Emporia, KS and Kasey Kahne walked through the casino with the showgirls on their arms. Bowyer talks about how the area of the Speedway was all pasture and cannot believe how much it has changed the area.
Kansas City, KS has grown to be a well known tourist destination and with a hotel coming soon to the Speedway will increase tourist. Come race weekend it is going to be the number one hotspot in Kansas City.
