A press release from the USAO of western district of New York issued March 20, 2013 announced that a federal grand jury has returned superceding indictments from the investigations into two street gangs, the Bailey Boys and LRGP (named after streets in their area; Lombard, Rother, Gibson and Plater). Both are violent criminal gangs operating on Buffalo's East Side.
One of the superseding indictment charges Bailey Boys member Tyriq Brown, 20, of Buffalo, with the shooting and wounding of a rival gang member on July 29, 2011 on Kensington Avenue. It also charges Bailey Boys members Rayshod Washington and Raymel Weeder with the February 9, 2012 murder of Fred Rozier. According to the indictment, the murder involved a drug ripoff that went bad. Washington is also charged with racketeering for the January, 27 2012 robbery of an individual.
Based on this latest superseding indictment, members and associates of the Bailey Boys, who operate in an area of the city bounded by Winspear Avenue, the Kensington Expressway, Eggert Road and Main Street, now stand accused of three murders, six shootings, including four drive-by shootings, a robbery that involved the shooting of a victim who survived and a shooting that occurred during a neighborhood party with numerous children present. A superseding indictment involving the LRGP Gang charges three additional members and associates with racketeering stemming from their participation in the illegal activities of the street gang on Buffalo's East Side. The illegal activities included cocaine trafficking and conspiracy to murder of rival gang members. Furthermore, 10 previously charged defendants are facing additional charges. Defendants Gregory Scott, Fred Keys and Ranole Goodwin are each charged with racketeering. Previously charged with cocaine trafficking in July 2012. (Ibid)
On August 1, 2012, a federal grand jury in Buffalo returned a 24-count superseding indictment charging members of the Bailey Boys Gang with violent crimes in aid of racketeering, narcotics trafficking, and firearm offenses. Charged in that Indictment are: Kenneth Pettway, Jr., 28; Demetrius Black, 36; Tyrone Brown, 20; Tyriq Brown, 20; Quinton Thompson, 23; Eddie Allen, 22; and Montell Jones, 23, all of Buffalo, New York.
The Bailey Boys stand accused of three murders, six shootings, a robbery that involved a shooting and a shooting that occurred during a neighborhood party. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says two defendants have been convicted.They allegedly operate in the area of Winspear Avenue, the Kensington Expressway, Eggert Road and Main Street.
That indictment specifically alleges: Defendant Tyrone Brown murdered Harold McCain on January 19, 2011; Defendant Tyrone Brown murdered Kevin Wilkins on June 14, 2011; Defendants Tyrone Brown and Tyriq Brown attempted to murder Victim 1 on June 28, 2011; Defendant Eddie Allen attempted to murder three victims on July 9, 2011; Defendant Tyriq Brown attempted to murder Victim 5 on July 23, 2011; Defendants Tyrone Brown and Eddie Allen robbed and attempted to murder Victim 6 on November 19, 2011; Defendants Demetrius Black, Kenneth Pettway, and Tyrone Brown distributed over 280 grams of crack cocaine between 2010 and 2011.
10 members of the LRGP gang are also charged with racketeering:
Dewayne Gray, John Evans, Alexis Mills, Philip Brown, John Hayward, Demario Devon Nance, Kiara McNamee, Erika Gray, Timothy Finch and Dayshawn Brazier are charged with racketeering. The racketeering charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, a $10,000,000 fine or both.
