With the price of gas spiraling it is great to hear that the rates this summer for train rides at the Grand Canyon Railway (GCR) in Williams, Ariz. will cost the same as last summer.
The GCR trains travel a route made famous by the Santa Fe Railway which routed millions of visitors to and from the Grand Canyon and helped make it one of America's favorite tourist destinations. Famous Santa Fe trains included the Super Chief (read more about it), El Capitan, and the Grand Canyon.
The train trip from Williams to Grand Canyon National park takes approximately two hours and 15 minutes and runs 65 miles through ponderosa pine forests and scenic desert landscapes. The train offers four classes of service – coach, first class, observation dome and luxury parlor.
Rates for roundtrip train travel start at $70 for adults 16 and older and $40 for children 2-15 for coach class.
The Grand Canyon Railway also offers a variety of multi-night packages that – depending on the package chosen – can include train travel to and from the park, accommodations inside the park and at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in Williams, Ariz., some meals and motorcoach tours in the park that showcase some of the Grand Canyon’s historic architecture and breathtaking views.
“Grand Canyon Railway packages offer a great combination of train and canyon experiences that appeal to all members of the family,” said Angela Berrigan, vice president of sales and marketing for the Grand Canyon Railway.
