Don't be overcome by the world-view
On November 29th park rangers and tourists at the Grand Canyon were treated to a rare event – fog. The whole canyon was bathed in a blanket of white and it was hard to see anything down inside the canyon. The event only happens once ever few years and was caused by a temperature inversion where the walls of the canyon trap the cold air inside the canyon while the warm air sits atop the canyon.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 4:4 that,” the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
Sometimes the world-view seems fogged over like the Grand Canyon. The truth lies at the bottom of a deep chasm but people cannot see what the truth looks like because a blanket of fog has blocked their view. The people are left wandering around speculating what the truth should be or setting up others truths by which they live their lives.
Take heart however because the Bible also says in 1 John 5 verse 4-5 that, “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”
According to John, one of the disciples, Christians are not overcome by the world-view because victory over the world has come through faith in God and the work of Jesus on the cross. It is through faith in God that the blanket of fog has been blown away and the truth behind has been revealed.
Christians have a different world-view then those standing looking down into the fog. They see the truth as detailed in God's Word and are not taken in by the, “god of this world,” and his work to lead the people away from God and into the fog which clouds of deception.
Stand with God see the truth, walk away from God get lost in the fog.
