Sony Computer Entertainment and Polyphony Digital have not yet released Gran Turismo 6, but talk of Gran Turismo 7 for PS4 has already begun. According to Gran Turismo producer Kazunori Yamauchi, GT7 will find its way to PS4 sooner than many would expect. In a story from the latest Famitsu via IGN on Sept. 13, Kazunori Yamauchi spoke about the PS4 and development of Gran Turismo 7.
While discussing the PS4, Yamauchi shared that Gran Turismo 7 will be done in about a “year of two” and will be released on the PS4. Consider this: Gran Turismo 4 was released on PS2 in Dec. 2004; meanwhile Gran Turismo 6 was released in Nov. 2010. If Gran Turismo does see release in, say, 2014 or 2015, it would be fairly quick turnaround for the company.
"The PlayStation 4 game we'll likely call GT7 will be done in about a year or two," Yamauchi told Famitsu.
While talking about the PS4’s hardware and abilities, Yamauchi detailed that the PS4’s large memory is a “unique trait” and that the hardware won’t affect the Gran Turismo franchise as much as it once did.
"The PlayStation 4's large memory size is a unique trait, but in terms of CPU performance, the PS3's Cell chip, while difficult to handle, is really capable,” he stated.
Gran Turismo 6 will be released for PS3 on Dec. 6.
