The 2013 Grammys were indeed amazing. They were just plain fun to watch. Shots of the crowd getting into the music of their peers was refreshingly entertaining. Every performance (sans Taylor Swift) was amazing no matter what genre. CBS also took every measure to not get called out by the Parents' Television Council, informing invitees that they needed to dress and behave appropriately. The evening was like high school prom, only the after parties are much, much cooler.
The highlight of the night was definitely Adam Levine and Alicia Keys performing their respective singles together. It seemed as though Levine and Keys were made to sing “Girl On Fire” together, while Keys added an even softer side to Maroon 5's “Daylight.” There were very few surprises other than Gotye snubbing fun. And Kelly Clarkson winning “Best Pop Vocal Album.”
Best New Artist nominee Hunter Hayes appeared as a country version of Justin Bieber, and sang for about 30 seconds as squeaky as a pre-teen Biebs. Notably absent from the Grammy festivities was the Biebs, who was shorted of any nominations for Believe. Taylor Swift opened the night, but didn't win any awards for her immature breakup tirades she likes to call music.
