Grammy-winning producer Pharrell Williams to perform at the Oscars

Grammy-winning producer and singer Pharrell Williams has already had a big year and he is about to step onto another big stage. As the Hollywood Reporter reports on Feb. 3, Williams will perform at the 86th Academy Awards.

Pharrell will perform his Oscar-nominated song “Happy” from the “Despicable Me 2” track. The song is nominated for Best Original Song and will be competing with U2’s “Ordinary Love” from “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”, “Let It Go” from “Frozen, and “The Moon Song” from “Her” performed by Karen O.

If Pharrell wins for the song “Happy” he would be just the third rapper to win an Oscar following Eminem and Three Six Mafia. Although Pharrell Williams is not primarily a rapper, it will be another accomplishment in a year where he has won multiple Grammys.

The only question that will remain once Pharrell Williams take the Dolby Theatre stage on Mar. 2 is whether he’ll be wearing the “Arby’s” hat that gained so much attention during and after the Grammys.
