GRAMMY winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, the consummate children’s music duo are set to kick-off the Candlelight Concerts Family Series on Sunday, October 25, 2009.

Candlelight Concerts stated mission for the last 36 years has been “to enrich the quality of life by presenting world class concerts and educational programs.”

The series draws patrons not only from Howard, Montgomery, Carroll, and Baltimore counties, but ticket holders from the District of Columbia, Virginia and Pennsylvania who have come to recognize the Candlelight Concerts are on a cultural and performance par to the most widely respected venues in larger metropolitan areas, but with ticket prices in the family-friendly range, starting as low as $6 with advanced per ticket-subscription series, to $10 per ticket for at-the-door pricing.

The October 25th performances at 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM, are approximately 50 minutes in length, which are suitable for children four and older, and are billed as: Cathy & Marcy’s Song Shop Presents: Banjo to Beatbox, which includes special guest artist, Washington, DC’s hip-hop sensation, Christylez Bacon.

The melding of the three talents are said to provide musical “nods to folk, rap and imagination,” while showing through music, how different styles can come together in a crowd pleasing interactive presentation.

Fink and Marxer have been recipients of two back-to-back GRAMMYS over their careers, in addition to a total of 11 nominations for their outstanding performances in children’s music.

The duo has toured internationally and entertained the Queen of Thailand; they have also sung at the White House Easter Egg Roll, and performed at such diverse venues as the  John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, to the renowned summer Ravinia Festival in Illinois.
