Red Carpet Arrivals

The Grammy Red Carpet never disappoints and heads are always bound to turn. Whether they do so for the gorgeous gowns or for the sex appeal and skin is what keeps the night entertaining year after year.

This year’s award show brought about an array of different looks and styles; however, as different as each individual outfit was, there was a sophisticated and classy feel with each ensemble that seemed to follow suite throughout the night.

Perhaps the credit for the overall sophisticated vibe belongs to CBS who issued a memo earlier this week asking that “buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered" for the televised award show. The memo sent out Wednesday also warned against "see-through clothing," exposure of "the genital region" and said that "thong type costumes are problematic."

Rihanna stunned everyone by looking elegant in a bold red Azzedine Alaïa gown, while Beyonce looked chic, if rather casual, in an Osman pantsuit. Taylor Swift was graceful in a strappy white gown by J Mendel and even got away with cut outs over the waist and a hint of side boob. Both Carrie Underwood and Carly Rae Jepsen looked refined in Roberto Cavalli gowns and Janelle Monae rocked her signature look in a tux jacket with sparkly lapels, a dripping bow tie and a flat top hat. Kat Dennings posed in avant-garde corseted Vivienne Westwood.

Although strict boundaries may have been set in place, there will always be the select few who need to bend the rules just a little. Jennifer Lopez showed off in a one-shoulder Anthony Vaccarello gown with a thigh-high slit that reminded us all of Angelie Jolie’s number at the 2012 Academy Awards. Katy Perry flirted with the rules a little bit by thrusting her cleavage front and center, but who otherwise was all covered up in a long-sleeve mint green gown by Gucci.
