The foot stomping musical "After Midnight" has been running successfully on Broadway for the past several months and now joining the cast is Grammy Award winning artist Patti Labelle. The show has already been a favorite for New York audiences and with this superstar joining the cast for this limited engagement, there is no doubt it will continue to be successful.
On Thursday, June 12, 2014, the crowd watched a true Diva perform. Patti Labelle is such a music powerhouse and to have her as a guest in the show was a sure treat for the audience. Also, it appeared that Patti was completely honored to be a part of such legendary music. The music coupled Labelle’s one of a kind style will bring a unique flavor to an era known as the Jazz Age.
After Midnight is directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle and each performance is set to pull the audience into the sexy and smoky glamour of the original Jazz Age. After Midnight celebrates Duke Ellington's years at the Cotton Club using his original arrangements and is performed by a world-class big band of 17 musicians hand-picked by living jazz legend, Wynton Marsalis.
During its peak, the Cotton Club featured a vast array of guest stars each week, known then as "Celebrity Nights." After Midnight will reintroduce this exciting tradition by presenting stars of today in limited engagement appearances throughout the musical's run.
Grammy Award-winner Patti Labelle can be seen in the show from now until June 29, 2014 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York City. With the long success her legendary career, the performance should be very exciting.
