GRAMMY-2013 nomination surprises
55th GRAMMY nomination list came out with several surprise omissions, already noted and discussed by online communities. Starting with the notable absence of arguably the most popular entertainer on the planet, Justin Bieber; as per the latest YouTube stats (see the table above and attached charts), his 13 songs included in Top100 list are totaling about 3 GigaViews (prefix Giga stands for Billion), thus exceeding the overall Internet user base [3]. Also, no ride (metaphorically) for our famous New Yorker Lana Del Rey, even though her recent music video hit “Ride” attracted more than 22 million viewers on YouTube in about 4 months since release; also relevant to mention her rather popular hits released in 2012, like: “Born to Die” reaching 94 million views count, “Video Games” (34 MViews), “Summertime Madness” (42 MViews) and “Blue Jeans” (15 MViews). Nicki Minaj GRAMMY-2013 snub is serving as another topical umbrella for multiple online discussions, as well as omission of Christina Aguilera and English-Irish pop-band "One Direction" from the nominees list [5].
