The Recording Academy's Grammy Recordings will team up with Capitol Records to release this year's nominees compilation album. The record's eclectic tracklist was revealed on Tuesday, featuring big hits from artists like The Black Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, Jack White, and 18 other acts.
“The 19th edition of the best-selling collection includes many of the most widely recognized GRAMMY categories representing nominees for Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album,” reads a press release about the album.
The tracklist is definitely varied in genre with The Black Keys' “Lonely Boy” finding itself in the company of Kelly Clarkson's empowering “Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)” and Taylor Swift's quirky “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Rising artist Carly Rae Jepsen's summer hit, “Call Me Maybe,” is featured with recent surprise smash, The Lumineers' folksy “Ho Hey,” and a live rendition of Adele's “Set Fire to the Rain” from a show at Royal Albert Hall. Best New Artist nominee Frank Ocean makes the cut with “Pyramids” amidst Jack White's “Freedom at 21” and Katy Perry's dreamy “Wide Awake.”
The “2013 Grammy Nominees” album will be released on January 22. Some proceeds from the compilation's sales will go toward the MusiCares Foundation and the Grammy Foundation, both charitable organizations through The Recording Academy. Watch who wins from the compilation album and the rest of the show's categories on February 10 when the Grammy Awards airs on CBS.
