Graco car seat recall

Graco is recalling 11 car seat models from 2009-2013 because the laches are not releasing. In some of these car seats it has become difficult to remove the child from the car seat. In emergencies the straps had be cut to get the child out of the seat. It is being reported that the latches are getting stuck from food and drink being spilled on to the latch.

Graco is recalling nearly 3.8 million car seats. The models include Cozy Cline, Comfort Sport, Classic Ride 50, My Ride 65, My Ride 70, My Ride 65 with Safety Surround, Size4Me 70, My Size 70, Head Wise 70, Smart Seat, Nautilus 3-in-1, Nautilus Elite and Argos.

The rear-facing seats are not being recalled at this time because they aren’t having these issues as of yet. Graco will send replacement buckles to owners of infant seats upon request.

Graco has cleaning tips to help keep the latches from sticking. At Recall and Safety Notifications on their website lists those cleaning tips. If it is still sticking after cleaning the latch you can call Graco customer service team at 800-345-4109 (9 am- 5pm) or online at to get a replacement latch.

It is estimated that only 1percent of the recalled seats have buckles that are sticking.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is looking into the manufacturer AmSafe where Graco car seats are made. “NHTSA is also in contact with AmSafe to identify any additional child seat manufactures that use harness buckles of the same or similar design.” NHTSA’s statement said.

NHTSA is looking into four models of Evenflow car seats with a similar design buckle. They have not recalled them as of yet.

It’s important to check your child’s car seat to make sure all of the parts are working properly. There may be more recalls coming. Look at your child’s car seat so you know if their car seat is being recalled.
