Fronted by lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Grace Potter, best known for her Janis Joplin-esque Blues rock voice, the band got its start in 2002 in Waitsfield, Vermont. After signing to Hollywood Records in 2005, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals released four studio albums – Nothing But the Water (2005), This Is Somewhere (2007), Grace Potter and the Nocturnals (2010), The Lion the Beast the Beat (2012) – that have encompassed the blues rock, folk rock, hard rock and alternative rock subgenres.
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals are touring in support of June 2012 release The Lion the Beast the Beat. The album, which features the single “Stars,” debuted at #17 on Billboard's Top 200 Album chart.
