Sean O’Meallie will host “Viewpoints: What Is the Chair Project Really About?” a forum to address any concerns regarding the art installation scheduled for early October. O’Meallie and his crew plan to place 1,000 chairs down the middle of Manitou Avenue from the Business of Art Center to Tubby’s Turnaround, a little more than half a mile northwest.

The meeting will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, in the Business of Art Center’s Venue 515, 515 Manitou Ave., Manitou Springs.

At this free event, educators, politicians, art experts and Manitou residents will address issues raised by attempting to create community-based art and how Manitou may be affected in the short and long term. The program will include a public question and answer period.

O’Meallie is seeking groups and individuals working in the creative and performing arts to participate in various ways, from wrangling chairs to photographing the completed installation (the BAC will host an exhibit of the resulting photos) and selling T-shirts to commemorate the event. Proceeds will benefit the BAC, Manitou residents and local artists.
