An invitation only conference to discuss risks to California as a result of extreme climate change is being held in Sacramento today.
Topics to be discussed by panels of experts and government officials include the Global Climate Challenge, Human and Economic Impacts of Climate Change on California, as well as Extreme Events caused by climate change.
Participants include California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr., former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dr. Rajendra Pachauri - Chair of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Sir Richard Branson - Founder of the Virgin Group, and Nancy Sutley - Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
The conference will also include representatives of public safety, the insurance industry, and public health. Additionally, other climate change experts, emergency response officials, public utility experts, and farmers will be participating.
