The government shutdown is now more than two weeks old. And so far, it seems as though it will be continuing.
Today, there were reports that the White House rejected a deal from the House.
The Statue of Liberty in New York City has re-opened, operating at a cost to the state of New York, but many other national parks and monuments are still closed.
For citizens, too, the government shutdown is frustrating. For one thing, millions of government employees are not back to work, and the government dragging its feet like this is inexcusable. It is extremely unfair for government employees to be put out of work during this time because politicians cannot come up with a solution for our nation's problems.
In life, we are often told to make compromises. The government needs to come to a compromise, before they go into default. It's time to end this, and get the American people back to work.
