How will the government shutdown impact mail delivery and the Post Office?
That is one of the questions on the minds of many San Francisco Bay Area residents as the government shutdown is in its third day.
The government shutdown has no impact on the USPS. There will be normal mail delivery service throughout the federal government shutdown. The US Post Office will be open normal hours. There is a great deal of speculation over how long the shutdown will last, but regardless, it will not affect the Post Office.
Government shutdown still headline news in SF
News of the government shut down continues to make headline news in San Francisco. There have been countless stories about Alcatraz, Muir Woods and other national parks being shut down. There have also been stories that remind folks that the US Post Office is open despite the shutdown.
Yes, there will be mail service today despite the government shut down
But once again, there will be mail service throughout the federal government shut down. The government shutdown will not affect mail delivery or Post Office hours. The Postal Service made note of that fact with a red banner on its Web site posted on Tuesday that read: "ALERT: USPS is operating normally during the Federal government shutdown."
If you have an errand to run that includes the post office, you have no excuse. The continued government shut down has no impact on mail or the Post Office.
