All 392 National Park units are now closed. This includes the 58 designated “National Parks.” Only essential services (such as Law Enforcement) will remain open. If the unit has public roads that go through them, they will allow travel through the Park from one Gateway to another. Stopping to picnic, hike or otherwise “recreate" is not allowed. No stopping for photos or short hikes. Restrooms, Ranger programs, Park facilities & campgrounds are all closed. They will curtail shopping for food, eating at restaurants, buying gas, etc.
Park employees will not receive paychecks, which will have a negative effect on the local community. Outdoor oriented individuals are encouraged to use State funded parks and recreation sites. Concessionaire facilities will phase down to a nearly complete closure by Thursday Oct 3rd. Any camping or hotel guests have until then to leave. This will be massive revenue hit for the nearby businesses. Support for these businesses is encouraged as many will be forced to lay off staff or curtail operations. Some sites, such as Yosemite have been dealt another blow due to fires.
