Friday March 1st 2013 is the deadline for the US Government to come to a "grand bargain" or deal again. Friday is the day that congress reaches an agreement or massive spending cuts take effect. In the past two years people have heard about the debt ceiling, Fiscal cliff and some other financial "end of the world" issues. People have began to say,"lets go over the cliff". To many people feel this is a ploy of the government to scare the public.
Look at the facts of history and you will see this is a result of decades of bad government decisions. Towards the end of WWII the United States was almost broke and could barely afford to keep the country operating. US currency was already off of the gold standard and later placed on the silver standard. Social Security and other entitlement programs were meant to be temporary measures and became permanent. The entitlements created generations of family's that had to live on Social benefits in order to survive.
Too many people have also decided that the government is responsible to take care of everything for them. Many people are so dependent on government programs that they have no other means of support. Now is the time to move past all the fear generated in the media and look at some facts. The citizens of the United States need to stand up and become part of the solution. The economy is not the sole responsibility of the government and it is time for a reality check.
Government spending has been out of control for decades and the country is reaping the consequences of mistakes that were made decades ago.People have the right to make their voices heard in government and now is the time to speak out. It is time to cut spending and focus on what matters most here at home. The U.S. needs to focus on the homeless, food and medical care at home. Foreign aid and constantly putting out fires around the world is not just Americas job.Charity starts at home and that is something the government has forgotten.
