Warren Haynes, Matt Abts, Jorgen Carlsson and Danny Louis, collectively known as Gov't Mule, wowed a standing room only crowd at Guitar Center Indianapolis Monday evening, giving a solid performance; sort of a sneak peak of what to expect in their upcoming live shows at the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre on Tuesday, October 1st, in Indianapolis, IN; at Lifestyles Communities Pavilion on Wednesday, October 2nd, in Columbus, OH; and two shows at the Vic Theatre in Chicago on Friday, October 4th, and Saturday, October 5th, 2013.
Known as a Southern rock jam band, Gov't Mule performed 'Whisper In Your Soul', 'Captured', 'Scared To Live', and 'Funny Little Tragedy' off of their new double-disc Blue Note Records debut entitled 'Shout!', which was released September 24th, 2013. It is the band's first release in four years. 'Shout!' features Elvis Costello, Dr. John, Ben Harper, Toots Hibbert, Glenn Hughes, Jim James, Myles Kennedy, Dave Matthews, Grace Potter, Vintage Trouble's Ty Taylor and Steve Winwood each delivering a vocal performance of one of the first disc's new Gov't Mule songs.
Fans who attended the Guitar Center Indianapolis mini-concert were very loud, raucous, appreciative and very supportive. "I came down from South Bend, Indiana and will be attending the Gov't Mule show in Chicago on Saturday [10/5] and possibly the Friday show as well, if it works out; but definitely Saturday" said super fan Jason Cuson. "I thought it was great tonight and this is probably my 65th Mule show, so I've seen them a bunch!"
According to Josh Stuban, Guitar Center Indianapolis Store Manager, "turnout was pretty unbelievable tonight, we were closer to 200 capacity. We would definitely consider using our parking lot. We'll see as the new year comes, we're going to kind of take a little bit of a pause for the Holidays and bring some more events in this coming new year. No names yet, but we are getting there."
