Gov. Ritter appoints new judge in Weld County

Gov. Bill Ritter appointed a Greeley lawyer to the Weld County bench today.

Todd Leslie Taylor will be the newest judge in the 19th Judicial District.

Taylor, a partner at Taylor & Rapp, is a former legal aid lawyer, prosecutor and Gilcrest municipal judge. A 1987 graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, he holds a law degree from Georgetown University.

The appointment fills the seat vacated when Judge Gilbert A. Gutierrez retired and is effective Aug. 22.

Taylor will serve a provisional term until the second Tuesday of January in 2013. He may seek retention by the voters to a full term on the district court bench in the November 2012 election.
