Gotham Sleaze: Toilet Boys

Toilet Boys rocked New York City in the mid-nineties through the turn of the century, leaving anthems and scars across the city and globe. The original Toilet Boys lineup featured Miss Guy, Sean Pierce, Electric Eddie, Rocket, and Adam Vomit. Each show brought energy, props and newly converted fans leaving with confusion and sexual questions regarding Miss Guy. During their punk-inspired reign the band toured with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dee Dee Ramone and Deborah Harry (Blondie).

The band was formed in 1995 by Miss Guy, a DJ at Don Hill’s rock club in New York City, to play a gig with Deborah Harry. The newly formed band, Toilet Boys, played the show (opening act) and then got more gigs followed by more attention and before they new it were a hit across the globe. From 1996-2004 the band had twelve releases and returned in 2007 with Sex Music followed by a surprise New York City reunion in 2010. When Axl Rose and the new Guns N’ Roses came to town in 2012 to play The Ritz (now Webster Hall) one more time it was the Toilet Boys given the opening slot on the bill.

Toilet Boys were a band that defied the odds, putting together a rock band inspired by punk and glam in the mid-nineties was not recommended. Inspired by glam rock, they also walked the line of experiment across rock genres, moving from Ramones punk jams to Poison glam metal to Motorhead. They did all of it and did it with a New York Dolls swagger. To this day Toilet Boys have a loyal following that can’t wait to see what they will do next.
