Gotham Sleaze: The Nuclears

The Nuclears are a straight-up-and-raw rock and roll band that have called New York City home since 2007. In case you’ve lost track of this band, The Nuclears are back with a new album set to release in early 2014. Their debut LP, released in 2011 was an incredible mix of punk, rock, and in-your-face attitude. Tracks “A Blindfold & a Cigarette”, “Get Me Outta Here”, “Pay Yer Dues”, and “You Can Make It” anchored an album heavy on sleazy guitars with no filler. Man do I love no filler albums!

Recently the band has been promoting their upcoming album, releasing the single "This Is How We Party" as well as drinking Rolling Rock beer and talking soup on Soul Search Live. The new single is pretty self-explanatory, a song about partying that keeps the energy high and garage sound old-school fans love about this band. The "B-Side", titled "Zegema Beach" is an interesting surfer rock track, a song that reminds me of the Ramones.

Despite their catchy hooks and great sense of humor (Note: rock and roll can always use more laughs) this band has remained an underground sensation. That may be where they belong, and may be where they are most happy; ruling the underground next to a keg of Rolling Rock.

If you haven't checked out The Nuclears, I suggest checking out their back catalog first while waiting for the new album to drop.
