New York City’s Sweet Cyanide have a new album and have released a video for the song “Better at Goodbyes.” Sweet Cyanide is Sal Scoca (vocals, guitar), Angelo Fariello(guitar), Del Cheetah (bass) and J Bomb (drums).
The red glittered guitar is what I first pick up on in the video for “Better at Goodbyes”, maybe a rock and roll Wizard of Oz? Lights flash quickly and there should be a warning that this video may cause seizures, but in a good way…rock and roll type seizures! The song itself is hard-hitting right out of the gate and then kicks down into a pleasant melody before kicking the energy back up with a killer hook and a double “thumbs up” to enhance the point! This band oozes with personality, be it Del Cheetah’s head banging (a signature for fans) as well as J Bomb’s drumming (who would probably continuing beating away on his drums if the stage was bombed). Extra bonus points to Sal Scoca’s gladiator sunglasses and Motorhead tee. Nice touch.
In 2009 Sweet Cyanide released their self-titled debut and in 2010 a follow-up titled Sweet Cyanide II. In 2012 the band put out their third album, Sweet Cyanide III. Over the years the band has performed on the same bill as Pop Evil, Hinder, Alice In Chains, Def Leppard, Buckcherry, Slash and many more. If “Better at Goodbyes” is any indication of what to expect from the new album we are all in for one hell of a treat.
Check out Sweet Cyanide’s new album here and if in the area go check out the band this Friday (August 8) at The Sturgis Buffalo Chip where they will are part of a bill that includes Cheap Trick and New York City’s The Pretty Reckless.
